Chicony Power follows ISO 14064-1:2018 for the greenhouse gas inventory at its headquarters and various factory locations. Through the greenhouse gas inventory system, the company accurately monitors emissions. After completing internal verification, a third-party verification body is commissioned for external verification to establish a complete inventory procedure.
In 2023, Chicony Power's operational boundary included the headquarters in Taipei and factories in Dongguan, Suzhou, Chongqing, and Thailand. However, as the new Thailand factory was just completed, it has not yet undergone ISO 14064-1:2018 verification and is expected to complete the inventory in 2025. All other operational locations have completed the inventory.
In 2022, Chicony Power launched the SBT project and passed the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) review. Based on the 1.5°C scenario of the Paris Agreement, Chicony Power calculated its carbon reduction responsibilities and set reduction targets aligned with the 1.5°C scenario. This includes reducing the total greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2, decreasing emission intensity, and incorporating Scope 3 (emissions during the product usage phase) into carbon reduction KPIs.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Status
Scope 3~Scope 6 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Status
●Chicony Power set the following greenhouse gas reduction targets under the SBTi framework:
✔By 2030, reduce Scope 1 and 2 absolute emissions by 42%, and reduce emission intensity by 56.8%.
✔By 2030, reduce Scope 3 emissions from product usage by 25%, and reduce emission intensity by 44.2%.

Chicony Power primarily uses water for employee needs and equipment, especially for air conditioning. However, the company continues to promote water-saving measures and has established a Water Resource Management Policy. Furthermore, all domestic sewage is treated with proper wastewater treatment facilities or directly discharged into sewage systems in compliance with local environmental regulations, avoiding environmental pollution. In 2023, Chicony Power had no fines related to water resource management or wastewater pollution at any of its sites.
Total Water Withdrawal Statistics for Headquarters and Factories
●Chicony Power’s water usage reduction targets are as follows:
✔Based on 2020 as the baseline year, reduce total water usage by 3% annually.
✔Based on 2020 as the baseline year, reduce water usage intensity (per million revenue) by 3% annually.

Under the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, Chicony Power regularly tracks and reports waste generation and sets waste reduction targets. Waste from the headquarters and factory sites is treated in compliance with local environmental regulations. Waste management at Chicony Power's Taipei headquarters is supported by Chicony Electronics’ headquarters, and the waste generation and disposal methods from 2021 to 2023 for other sites are disclosed as follows:
Waste by Recycling Percentage (Unit: Tons)
Waste by Disposal Site (Unit: Tons)
●Chicony Power's waste reduction targets are as follows:
✔Based on 2020 as the baseline year, reduce total waste by 3% annually.
✔Based on 2020 as the baseline year, reduce waste generation intensity (per million revenue) by 3% annually.

Both targets were not met. The increase in waste volume in 2023 was mainly due to the promotion of UL 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill certification at various factories in China. Previously unidentified waste was fully inventoried and accounted for, with the Suzhou and Dongguan factories both receiving platinum certification. The Chongqing factory is expected to receive certification by the end of July 2024. To ensure data accuracy, Chicony Power plans to reset its reduction or recycling targets after all factories are fully certified under UL 2799.
Chicony Power has implemented the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and ISO 50001 Energy Management System, and conducts annual greenhouse gas inventories. The company is committed to becoming a leading manufacturer of green components and consumer electronics. The relevant certification methods and third-party verification certificates are as follows:

Chicony Power has assigned appropriate personnel at each location to continuously promote various energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects, with regular tracking of their implementation. Due to the significant investments in energy-saving improvement measures over the past three years, fewer new projects were added in 2023.
In 2023, Chicony Power, under the group's name, announced its commitment to the global renewable energy initiative RE100, actively increasing its use of renewable energy. The company’s total electricity consumption reached 80,279 MWh, with renewable energy use accounting for 35,027 MWh, achieving a renewable energy usage rate of 43.63%.
The sources and their proportion of total electricity consumption are as follows:
Energy-Saving Improvement Measures and Renewable Energy Usage in 2023
In 2022, the Suzhou plant installed solar panels for self-generation and consumption. In 2023, both the Chongqing and Thailand plants also installed solar panels, which have already been connected to the grid and are in use. The Dongguan plant is expected to complete its solar panel installation by 2024.
