Greenhouse Gas Management

Chicony Power, in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 standards and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), has established a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory system. Full-scale carbon accounting is conducted for the headquarters and all manufacturing sites, enabling accurate identification and quantification of emission sources and volumes. Upon completion of the inventory process, in addition to undergoing an internal audit as a preliminary verification, the results are also subject to external assurance by an independent and accredited third-party verification body to enhance the accuracy and credibility of disclosure.

In proactive response to the risks posed by climate change and to strengthen the overall consistency and transparency of GHG management, the scope of disclosure in the 2024 inventory has been expanded to cover all subsidiaries within the consolidated financial statements.

In 2022, Chicony Power launched its Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative and successfully obtained target validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Based on the 1.5°C scenario under the Paris Agreement, the Company assessed its decarbonization responsibilities and established reduction targets aligned with the 1.5°C pathway. These include absolute reduction of Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions, a decrease in GHG emission intensity, and the incorporation of Scope 3 emissions from the use phase of sold products into the Company’s decarbonization KPIs.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Status

Scope 3~Scope 6 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Status

Note:

1. The Company conducts an inventory and calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, uniformly adopting the Global Warming Potential (GWP) values published in the IPCC AR6 Report (AR6, 2023) as the basis for calculations. This approach ensures the scientific validity and timeliness of emissions conversion, enhancing the accuracy and comparability of disclosed data.

2. The Company operation bases that do not use biomass fuel, resulting in zero carbon dioxide emissions from biomass combustion, quantified as 0 tCO2e.

3. The numbers in parentheses following the category names in the table correspond to the category standard numbers defined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) for Scope 3.

Chicony Power set the following greenhouse gas reduction targets under the SBTi framework:

By 2030, reduce Scope 1 and 2 absolute emissions by 42%, and reduce emission intensity by 56.8%.

By 2030, reduce Scope 3 emissions from product usage by 25%, and reduce emission intensity by 44.2%.

Water Resource Management

Chicony Power primarily uses water for employee needs and equipment, especially for air conditioning. However, the company continues to promote water-saving measures and has established a Water Resource Management Policy. Furthermore, all domestic sewage is treated with proper wastewater treatment facilities or directly discharged into sewage systems in compliance with local environmental regulations, avoiding environmental pollution. In 2024, Chicony Power had no fines related to water resource management or wastewater pollution at any of its sites.

Total Water Withdrawal Statistics for Headquarters and Factories

Chicony Power’s water usage reduction targets are as follows:

Based on 2020 as the baseline year, reduce total water usage by 3% annually.

Waste Management

Under the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, Chicony Power regularly tracks and reports waste generation and sets waste reduction targets. Waste from the headquarters and factory sites is treated in compliance with local environmental regulations. Waste management at Chicony Power's Taipei headquarters is supported by Chicony Electronics’ headquarters, and the waste generation and disposal methods from 2021 to 2024 for other sites are disclosed as follows:

Waste by Recycling Percentage

Waste Classification by Disposal Site

Note: Chicony Power did not have any on-site waste disposal in 2024. The term “on-site” refers to the areas inside the reporting organization’s physical boundary or administrative control scope; “off-site” refers to the areas outside the reporting organization’s physical boundary or administrative control scope.

Chicony Power's waste reduction targets are as follows:

Based on 2020 as the baseline year, reduce waste generation intensity (per million revenue) by 3% annually.

Targets was not met. The waste increase in 2024 was mainly due to the promotion of the UL2799 Zero Waste to Landfill certification at the Company’s factories in Mainland China, which involved complete inventories and statistics compilation for previously unidentified waste items. The Company’s factories in Mainland China have obtained the Platinum Award certification, and Thailand Factory is scheduled to obtain the certification by the end of 2025. To ensure data accuracy, relevant targets will be reset after UL2799 is introduced at all factories.

Climate Governance

Chicony Power's climate governance structure designates the Board of Directors as the highest governing body for climate-related issues, overseeing decision-making on the company’s overall climate change matters. The Corporate Sustainability Development Committee serves as the primary management layer, under which the Corporate Sustainability Task Force and ESG workgroups are established. These work groups collaborate across departments to address shared climate change challenges. Each year, the Sustainability Task Force reports progress and outcomes to the Corporate Sustainability Development Committee based on the results of ongoing initiatives.

Energy-Saving Improvement Measures and Increasing the Use of Renewable Energy

In 2023, Chicony Power, together with its parent company, announced its commitment to the global renewable energy initiative RE100, pledging to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 2 emissions by 2030 through the use of 100% renewable energy across its Taiwan headquarters and global operations.

To this end, the Company has been installing solar power generation systems and implementing intelligent integration platforms as well as an automated energy and carbon management platform to further reduce energy waste and identify carbon-intensive hotspots. On the external front, the Company is advancing renewable energy adoption through participation in local green power trading platforms, signing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with legally compliant renewable power producers, and purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), thereby working toward achieving 100% renewable electricity across all operations.

In 2024, the Company’s total electricity consumption amounted to 82,015 MWh, of which 45,567 MWh was sourced from renewable energy, representing 55.56% of total electricity consumption — marking the first time that more than half of the Company’s electricity usage came from renewable sources.

Energy-Saving Improvement Measures and Renewable Energy Usage in 2024

The share of self-generated renewable electricity has shown steady growth for three consecutive years. In 2024, Chicony Power generated 7,555 MWh of self-consumed green electricity through its in-house solar systems, in addition to 25,047 MWh of externally procured renewable electricity supplied via grid transfer. These efforts have continued to increase the Company’s self-sufficiency in renewable energy.

By strengthening both internal renewable energy facilities and external power procurement mechanisms, the Company has not only effectively reduced its reliance on conventional energy sources but also achieved a combined renewable electricity share of approximately 40%. This demonstrates strong execution and tangible progress toward its RE100 commitment and net-zero transition vision.
